Beneath the 12-Mile Reef (1993)

You'd never recognize Wagner in one of his first movies — and that's probably okay by him. Sporting a frizzy hairdo, he's laughably earnest as a Greek sponge fisherman in love with a rival diving magnate's daughter (the even stiffer Moore). Maybe anybody would bomb who had to exclaim — twice — ''I'm a very beautiful young man!'' A top grosser in its day (it was one of the first CinemaScope features), Beneath the 12-Mile Reef is beyond soggy now, despite the impeccable transfer it gets here. C+
