Oscar Ballot Shake-Up

Oscar voters had better see all 10 of next year's Best Picture nominees. Why? Now that 10 movies will be vying for the big prize, the Academy is overhauling that category's voting system. Instead of choosing one favorite, voters will rank the nominees from 1 to 10. After the No. 1 votes are counted, the film with the fewest votes will be eliminated, and members who chose it will have their No. 2 picks tallied. The process continues until one entry racks up a majority. (So the film with the most No. 1 votes won't necessarily win.) Simple it's not. But the system should prevent a movie from triumphing with only a tiny fraction of the vote.
