Dominick Dunne's Greatest Hits

''The Two Mrs. Grenvilles'' and ''Another City, Not My Own'' are two of the recently deceased author's best works

The author, who died Aug. 26 in Manhattan at 83, virtually created his own genre with a series of fiction and nonfiction best-sellers about the nexus of celebrity and crime. Here are three of his best works.

THE TWO MRS. GRENVILLES (1985)
The success of this novel, based on the 1955 murder of a rich New York scion, led to follow-ups like A Season in Purgatory.

ANOTHER CITY, NOT MY OWN (1997)
After covering the O.J. Simpson murder trial for Vanity Fair, Dunne novelized his experience reporting on the case.

THE WAY WE LIVED THEN (1999)
Dunne's memoir, subtitled Recollections of a Well-Known Name-Dropper, shares glitzy stories about his bevy of famous pals.
