SINGULAR SENSATIONS Aiken and Studdard will face off in record stores

''American Idol'' viewers may have voted for Ruben Studdard over Clay Aiken with their phone calls, but will they vote the same way with their dollars? We'll find out on Tuesday, June 10, when they release simultaneous singles. Ruben will drop his cover of Westlife's ''Flying With Wings,'' backed with his version of the Carpenters' ''Superstar,'' while Clay will release his rendition of Simon and Garfunkel's ''Bridge Over Troubled Water,'' backed with ''This Is the Night,'' the new song he popularized on ''Idol.''

Both singers will appear that day on ''The Oprah Winfrey Show'' to promote their releases. As if that weren't enough, Justin Guarini (last year's Clay) will also be there, promoting his self-titled album that's in stores the same day. One clear winner: RCA Music Group chairman and J Records founder Clive Davis, who has signed all three artists to his labels (Ruben is on J, while Clay and Justin are on RCA), and who will produce the debut albums of both Ruben and Clay, which will compete in another in-store showdown if they're both released, as projected, in September.
