''American Idol'' fans were achin' to buy the long-awaited debut CD from this year's runner up. Clay Aiken's ''Measure of a Man'' entered the Billboard album chart at No. 1 and sold 613,000 copies, according to SoundScan. That's more than twice the 297,000 that last year's winner, Kelly Clarkson, sold during the week her ''Thankful'' debuted atop the chart earlier this year. It also means Ruben Studdard, who edged out Aiken on the show, will face a real challenge measuring up to Aiken's sales when his debut, ''Soulful,'' comes out at the end of the year.

Last week's top entrée, Ludacris' ''Chicken & Beer,'' dipped to second place on sales of 194,000. Entering the chart at No. 3 was R&B quartet Jagged Edge, whose ''Hard'' sold 178,000 discs. OutKast's double set ''Speakerboxxx/The Love Below'' slipped two slots to fourth place and sold another 168,000 copies. Releasing her 60th record, Barbra Streisand debuted in fifth place by selling 162,000 copies of ''The Movie Album,'' thanks in part to a promotional visit to ''Oprah.''

Dido's ''Life for Rent'' took up residence at No. 6, down two from last week. Elvis Presley's ''2nd to None'' was 7th, dropping four spots. Sting's ''Sacred Love'' slipped two notches to No. 8. Hilary Duff's ''Metamorphosis'' didn't change at all, remaining at No. 9. Dave Matthews' ''Some Devil'' headed south five spots to No. 10.
