Three literary comics
Masterpiece Comics, R. Sikoryak
Literary works astutely altered, with comic heroes as protagonists:
Batman as Crime and Punishment's Raskolnikov, etc. A
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, L. Frank Baum
Artist Skottie Young bravely reinterprets the Oz stories with slashing
strokes to suit Eric Shanower's deft adaptation. B+
Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen
Nancy Butler brings subtle changes to Austen's dialogue without removing
her wit, while artist Hugo Petrus avoids what could have been
romance-novel clichés. B
