Them Crooked Vultures (2009)

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Release Date: Nov 17, 2009; Lead Performance: Them Crooked Vultures; Genre: Rock

The ghost of Led Zep hangs heavy over Them Crooked Vultures, the debut collaboration from Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and Zep's own John Paul Jones. Though that's mostly ''heavy'' as in ''heartily rocking.'' Homme's decidedly un-Plant-like vocal tones ensure matters never get too close to the mothership, as in such memorable-in-their-own-right stompers as ''Mind Eraser, No Chaser'' and the disco-metal extravaganza ''Gunman.''
