The big draw of course — besides Santa Rosa — is former Dancing With the Stars (and formerly engaged) pair Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff, who perform in a handful of the dances to rapturous cheers from the crowd. The couple is, in a word, dazzling. Smirnoff glides beautifully, and Chmerkovskiy shakes his hips (and his booty) with such skill, it's clear he was born with the talent. One highlight from the pair is ''Comme Il Faut,'' choreographed by fellow dancers Juan Paulo Horvath and Victoria Galoto.
Tango is light but fun, and it moves along at a spicy clip. If you love Latin dance — or hell, if you just love a good time — you won't regret a night at the show, which impresario Luis Bravo has been mounting in various incarnations for more than two decades. (The production runs through Sept. 15 at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre.) One little tip: Definitely stay through the show's curtain call. The near-10 minute, dramatic bowing and encore dance is a spectacle that counts as a mini show-within-a-show. It also features a booty-shimmy by Chmerkovskiy that should not be missed. B+
