EW's Special Coverage

'True Blood' Central

Bravo to Ryan Kwanten for being totally enjoyable in this episode, while managing to keep his clothes on. Jason wanted to know what he could do to help, and Sookie said the same thing she was apparently supposed to do: nothing. That's especially hard, she said, because, ''I keep expecting him to come through the door and say… [perfect impersonation] Sookie.'' Seriously, the True Blood writers are on fire this season. They clearly know what we, the audience, obsess over. This scene was the sweetest Jason Stackhouse has ever been to his sister. He said he'd go to Andy and ask for help since they'd grown close after going through some stuff together (he told Sookie not to read his mind, and she's the only person in the world who wouldn't then immediately do it). Hearing Sookie worry that Tara will never forgive her for helping Eggs remember what Maryann had made him do, he assured her Tara is tough, she'll get through this. He told Sookie to get some sleep and let him worry about Bill for a while. It's just the two of them now, and when she marries Bill, it will be the three of them. More on Jason later. Let's stay with Sookie.

She eventually went to work, and in the parking lot, overheard a longhaired werewolf I'd describe as a cross between Mickey Rourke in Iron Man 2 and Dale Earnhardt Jr. saying that he was going to grab her, look around, and be back in time to watch Let's Make a Deal. Proving Eric was right about Sookie foolishly going full throttle in her search for Bill, she ran after the wolf calling him a coward and asking what he'd done with Bill when he vanished at the sound of Terry's voice. This was a nice way to get Terry some screen time. ''Usually when I see things other people don't, it's cause I ain't take my medication,'' he said, when Sookie asked if she saw something in the woods. Terry turned tracker (how badly do you want to use the hold-up hand signal?) and when Sookie found the biker's boots and clothes, he suddenly knew werewolves were real, too. Sookie told him not to tell anyone about the visit, that she already had Eric working on the situation. Terry gave her a gun, and asked if she knew how to use it. ''I ain't that blonde,'' she said, putting it in the front of her shorts. (Concealed weapons on waitresses? Probably good for tips.) Then, because Sookie had told him to tell short-tempered (and secretly pregnant) Arlene how he really feels because you never know what's going to happen, he stopped her and said, ''I've always liked you. And I'd miss you if you got killed. Just so you know.'' Okay, Terry must be the fifth most fun character to write for after Pam, Jason, Eric, and Lafayette. (He'd eventually read Arlene a list of reasons why she can trust him with her kids that started off real strong — he's a nurturer who found a baby armadillo by the side of the road, nursed it, named it Felix and now lets it sleep under his bed. He has a diploma from anger management, where he learned talking about feelings is the manly thing to do. But then he was just reaching. ''Number 3,'' he said, over the noise of her vomiting in the bathroom, ''I never killed nothin' by accident.'')

NEXT: Sookie, invite him in already
