He crossed galaxies in Star Trek and nearly nuked Manhattan in Heroes. But according to Zachary Quinto, 33, that was all a warm-up for his latest feat: playing the neurotic Louis Ironson in an Off Broadway revival of Tony Kushner's 1993 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Angels in America (in previews now at the Peter Norton Space in New York City, opening Oct. 28). ''This is the culmination of a long-term plan,'' says Quinto, a drama-school grad who still calls himself a theater actor despite his Hollywood career. ''I moved to L.A. 10 years ago so that eventually I'd be able to come back to New York to do a play.'' Yet even with an A-list résumé, Quinto only landed his Angels role after trying out for it twice. ''I appreciate that they made me audition,'' he says. ''I worked for it.''
