MPAA Rating: R

Details Rated: R; Genre: Drama; With: Kerry Fox, Bruno Ganz and Lisa Harrow

The characters in The Last Days of Chez Nous, Gillian Armstrong's Australian documentary drama, are so drab they rob the film of any life it might have had. Harrow plays a writer whose marriage to Ganz falls apart when her footloose younger sister (Kerry Fox) shows up for an indefinitely extended visit. Although generally intelligent and even perceptive about human behavior, the movie nonetheless seems afflicted by an enervating dullness, which makes it hard to care about these people and their little kitchen-sink dramas.
