The dud that was Daredevil will not stop Ben Affleck from stepping into another superhero's Spandex suit. This time, it's Superman, sort of. Variety reports that he'll be playing George Reeves, the actor who became famous as Superman in the 1950s TV series, in the biopic Truth, Justice, and the American Way.
Also starring in the low-budget Focus Features drama will be Diane Lane (as Toni Mannix, an MGM executive's wife who reportedly had a long-running affair with Reeves) and Adrien Brody, as a detective who investigated Reeves' mysterious death. (Reeves was found dead in his bedroom hours after a 1959 party involving much drinking; police ruled the shooting a suicide, despite forensic evidence suggesting foul play.) Allen Coulter, best known for directing several episodes of The Sopranos, will direct the long-gestating project this summer.
