COUPLES THERAPY Madonna (with husband Guy Ritchie in 2001) says celebrity marriage can work

Memo to J.Lo: You know you're spending too much time in the media spotlight when Madonna says you could use a little privacy.

When the topic of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's postponed nuptials came up in a recent interview, Madonna fingered the couple as being partially to blame for their wedding delay, despite the pair's public statement condemning ''excessive media attention'' for ruining their plans back in September.

''Well, to a certain extent, they courted the media attention,'' Madonna told the syndicated television show ''Access Hollywood'' in a segment that aired Thursday. ''At the end of the day I feel like that's their job, and then there needs to be a part of the relationship that you keep private.''

Though the diva did explain she wasn't ''making a judgment call on Jennifer and Ben,'' she did make the encouraging point that love really can conquer the paparazzi. ''Ultimately, if you have a strong relationship, and there is understanding of what a committed marriage is, I don't think that having a lot of media attention can break it up,'' the Material Girl explained.

Take heart, Jennifer: If Madonna's marriage to director Guy Ritchie can survive the ''Gigli''-level flop ''Swept Away'' as well as the spectacle of the little missus making out with the likes of Britney and Christina, you and Ben should be just fine.
