At least this time, there'll be no alimony involved. Four months after the couple aborted their wedding at the last minute, Jennifer Lopez has broken off her engagement to Ben Affleck, People.com reports. Her publicist made the announcement in a statement, saying: ''I am confirming the reports that Jennifer Lopez has ended her engagement to Ben Affleck. At this difficult time, we ask that you respect her privacy.''
The high-profile pair had been a tabloid fixture for nearly two years, meeting in 2002 on the set of their future flop ''Gigli'' and becoming a couple before the ink was dry on her divorce from second husband Cris Judd, from whom she'd split after eight months of marriage. Despite calling off their high-profile wedding last September, the couple known as Bennifer were still ubiquitous, still joined at the hip. In recent days, however, J. Lo was spotted dancing until the wee hours in Miami with ex-boyfriend Sean ''P. Diddy'' Combs. Affleck appeared at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend, telling the Associated Press, ''Everything's going along fine. We're good.''
The couple still have one more joint project, the movie ''Jersey Girl,'' which opens March 19. Director Kevin Smith has gushed a lot about how much in love Affleck and Lopez appear, both on and off screen. Guess we'll see how good their acting skills really are.
