Creator Matthew Weiner sums up the central theme of this great season: ''Reinvent yourself (or) accept who you are.'' Now, when you watch the fourth season straight through, the ''Who is Don Draper?'' story line seems both heroic and tragic, just the way Mad Men likes to play things. The good news about the DVD is that Weiner provides commentary for every episode; that's also the bad news, since his capacious knack for turning everything, even a minor character's prosthetic leg, into a symbol for Don's psyche can be wearying. So are the talking-head featurettes about 1960s advertising and divorce. But boy, what terrific acting and writing unfold in each episode. A–
