Okay for kids?

EW says…

Min. Age 7-9 Yrs Old

The violence is of the cartoon variety and the zombie stuff benign for all but the youngest. One of the ghosts' backstory could be upsetting, but even that gets turned into a lesson as Norman counsels her about controlling her rage. A.W.

Norman (Kodi Smit-McPhee), a kid whose ability to see dead folks gives this zombie-lite animated feature its name, has fantastic built-for-3-D hair that sticks straight up as if in a permanent expression of fright. The hair counts as a wan joke in this bland diversion, since Norman is blithely unafraid of the assorted undead that only he can see in his ghost-infested town. The story may be thin, but the project, a feat of stop-motion animation, is made with generous care by the same impressive LAIKA studio artists who conjured up the gorgeous Coraline. B
