'How I Met Your Mother' Gets Back to Work

EW was on set as CBS' ''How I Met Your Mother'' — which premieres Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. — shot its eighth-season opener

How I Met Your Mother co-creator Craig Thomas and director Pam Fryman offered advice to Cobie Smulders (above) as she prepared to film her character Robin's nuptials to Barney (Neil Patrick Harris). In real life, Smulders just wed SNL's Taran Killam, but she knows the song her alter ego will want to hear walking down the aisle: ''Probably 'Sexy Bitch.'''

Car paintings, animal curtains, and Daddy in a penguin-print sweater — life is pretty sweet for tiny Marvin Waitforit Eriksen. The nursery isn't the only new thing for the burgeoning family — mother Lily (Alyson Hannigan, left, with Jason Segel) gets a different look too. ''Lily's a new mom,'' explains costume designer Reiko Kurumada, ''so we wanted to make sure she felt pretty and stylish, but comfortable.''
