6:45 a.m. Rise and shine! My wife, Lisa, preps the kids' lunches and backpacks, while I get them out of bed and dressed the easier part for sure. [Probst's wife, Lisa Russell, has two children Michael, 8, and Ava, 6 from a previous marriage.]
8:50 a.m. Arrive at Hollywood's Sunset Bronson Studios After a 25-minute CrossFit workout, I get to work and head to The Jeff Probst Show's voice-over booth to record tracks for the day's taped pieces.
9:05 a.m. Preshow meeting I sit down with exec producer Amy Coleman to go over our first taping, with guest Vivica A. Fox. She is already at the studio, and word has it she is in a great mood.
10:05 a.m. Talk Survivor with exec producer Mark Burnett I answer a quick email from Mark about one particular scene from an upcoming Survivor: Philippines episode currently being edited. I have one email in my VIP email account, and it's Mark. I know the second he emails me.
10:30 a.m. Tape first episode of the day Vivica is awesome. Great guest. We play a quick game of basketball, and she kicks my ass.
12:40 p.m. Incoming: book deal! I receive an email with some great news Scholastic has offered to license our children's adventure series, Stranded. It's Survivor for kids! Comes out February 2013. Huge news.
12:45 p.m. Prep for visit from Kristen Bell I take advantage of a free half hour to start reading research for an upcoming interview with Kristen Bell. She sounds very cool and very relatable.
2 p.m. Tape second episode of the day Alana Stewart comes on to talk about her memoir. As a surprise, she reads from her personal journals, which detail her relationships with exes George Hamilton and Rod Stewart. She also discusses getting into email wars with Rod over how to parent their children.
3:30 p.m. Tape third episode of the day This one features two amazing young people with incredible stories. Very inspiring.
5 p.m. Talk about the talk show I'm done with shows but still have to tape some promotional spots for local affiliates and record videos for Tout.com previewing the shows we just shot.
6 p.m. Family time Heading home for dinner, homework, and fun time with the kids before they're off to bed. This is not the norm tape days just happen to be loooooong.
8:30 p.m. Back to the island Watch revised cut of the Survivor scene that I discussed earlier with Mark. I love seeing episodes ahead of time, and this season is really good!
9:30 p.m. Screen footage from indie-film project Time to shift gears and watch three scenes from Kiss Me, a movie I directed starring Emily Osment, Sarah Bolger, John Corbett, Rita Wilson, Jenna Fischer, and Missi Pyle. We are in the last stages of editing, and we're trying to finish in time for some of the film festivals, but finding free time is tight.
10 p.m. The cycle starts again Believe it or not, I begin prepping tomorrow's three shows.
12:58 a.m. Lights out Okay, that's it. I'm off to bed. Up tomorrow at 6:45.
