For a couple of unhappily married suburbanites, lawn-destroying raccoons are the least of their troubles in this provocatively acrid adult comedy of lies, deceits, and a touch of murder. Writer-director Jacob Aaron Estes (who cast an excellently baleful eye on teenagers in Mean Creek) leaves no one off the hook. Tobey Maguire's characteristic placidity makes a fine mask for a man who is thoroughly awful. And a nutty Laura Linney, sporting raccoon eye makeup of her own, creates an excellent nightmare of a crazy-lady neighbor. (Also available on VOD) B
