In The Flat when his German-born grandmother died at age 98, Israeli filmmaker Arnon Goldfinger joined his family in cleaning out her Tel Aviv apartment, only to unearth extraordinary family secrets, which he explores in this insightful documentary. I won't spill those troubling discoveries, which concern a relationship, unfathomable, between Jews and Nazis. But I will salute the deftness and intelligence with which Goldfinger observes the reactions of the living to the revelations of the dead. (Also available on VOD) A-
