The holidays are here, which means you can either slog through hours of awkward family chitchat or settle in for a movie marathon. Our suggested viewing: The Complete Thin Man Collection (1934-47, 9 hrs., 49 mins., Not Rated), starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, husband-and-wife sleuths who solve murders when they're not swapping flirty banter and tossing back highballs. (A Johnny Depp remake is in development.) This reissued DVD set includes all six Thin Man capers. The first one is the best, but even the lesser ones are still screwball fun. And they sure beat yuletide small talk. A-
