Novelist and amateur cardplayer Whitehead follows up 2011's undead tome Zone One with a nonfiction account of his attempt to win the 2011 World Series of Poker — or, rather, to take part in the contest without looking overly foolish. The Noble Hustle never manages to escape the shadow of James McManus' terrific Positively Fifth Street, which detailed the author's participation in the 2000 WSOP. However, Whitehead captures the sketchy and zombielike nature of poker tournament play well enough to leave you wishing this book came with a free bottle of Purell. B
