GUY PEARCE It definitely had an effect on me. There's something in our minds that tells us it's quite possible that creatures could come down from outer space. It has to possibly be real somewhere, sometime.

SEAN ASTIN (''The Lord of the Rings'') It's the first movie I ever cried in, and it's simply one of the greatest movies ever made. It forever changed the way that I watched other movies. Most science-fiction movies ask the audience to take a big leap of faith, but Spielberg made it so that all you had to do was take a little gentle step forward to believe what was happening. [It's] a spiritual experience, really.
THORA BIRCH (''Ghost World'') It was the first film that made me realize how much I really wanted to fly.
RICK SCHRODER I thought Drew Barrymore was a babe.
SHANNEN DOHERTY I remember crying and wanting an E.T. of my own. It was brutal when he was dying in that oxygen thing with the mean people experimenting on him. I was like, ''Just let him go home!''
SEAN YOUNG Steven brought a lot of people back into the theaters with that movie. The movie business was at a big low before that. Steven should get a lot of credit for making that type of blockbuster.
BT (DJ, film composer, ''The Fast and the Furious'') ''E.T.'' had a profound influence on me -- on my whole generation. It was just as significant as ''Star Wars.'' I can't wait to see it again.
