TLC's ''Trading Spaces'' goes country Saturday, April 20 (9 p.m.), for its first-ever celebrity episode. Country music star Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks lets designers Vern Yip and Hilda Santo-Tomas invade her and her mom's Austin homes.
Why? New mother Natalie is at a loss with her multipurpose room, while her mom, Tina, has a sewing room that's looking a little threadbare. Host Paige Davis and carpenter Ty Pennington are on hand in the Lone Star State to help with the makeovers, along with Natalie's sister and cousin.
Was it a problem landing an ever-busy, multiplatinum Dixie Chick? Not really, executive producer Denise Cramsey tells EW.com. Turns out the Maineses are big fans of the show. What's more, they were perfect candidates because Natalie and her mom ''had already decorated every other room [in Natalie's house] except this one'' and knew each other's tastes well, explains Cramsey.
