Spider-Man (2002)

EW's GRADE
C+

Details Release Date: Apr 30, 2002; Lead Performance: Various Artists; Genre: Soundtracks

It's kind of cool that they included the original theme from Spidey's '60s cartoon series here; too bad they also stuck on Aerosmith's unbelievably turgid update of same. As with most soundtracks for event movies, Spider-Man (Sony Soundtrax) is a crazy quilt of new stuff (by Sum 41, Alien Ant Farm, Jerry Cantrell, and others) recorded expressly for the flick, and previously released tracks (by hipsters like the Strokes and the Hives) with no logical connection to the proceedings whatsoever. Sort of makes you wonder who assembled it -- the Green Goblin, maybe?
