You definitely seemed to hate her through a few of those episodes.
She was a great competitor once she started playing the game. She was very much under the radar, but once it was in her face she acknowledged it. It's funny because Sean was the mastermind behind betting those Rotu people kicked off and she got the credit for it.
Is Kathy still angry at you that you got rid of her?
She was hurt for a long time. I had to really put it to her that we were all wheeling and dealing left and right and then it finally hit her. I had to come to grips with her anger. I think there may still be a little bit of hurt that she didn't get to the finals but it's all part of the game.
So, are you helping Sean pay his rent?
It's funny because everyone cracked up laughing when he said that, so I didn't hear it at first. Part of our contract is that we can't share the money with anyone. I would like to buy a gift for everyone, but we can't share the cash reward. But if the young brother needs some money, I'm there. I'm still working, so who's to say which money it's coming from? The coolest thing is that Sean won two cars -- from the challenge and then the one we all got.
Since your strategy seemed to be to not make yourself noticeable, you had to rely on luck a lot.
I would say 35 percent was luck. I was what they call the ''silent threat.'' A lot of things I did were deceptive but no one knew that. At tribal council early on I talked about how Hunter was such an asset. Then he went back to camp with his chest sticking out and started bossing people around, so he was out of there. I sat back and watched it unfold. My goal all along was to get rid of the strongest people. I would get people talking by the campfire and then they would get all angry and vote someone else off. I would just sit back and crack up and think this is so hilarious. Before you knew it, everyone was like, How in the world did she get here?
Do you know what you're going to spend the money on?
We're in the process of remodeling the house, and we started running out of money about a month and a half ago. Now we'll get the cabinets we really wanted instead of the ones we could afford.
So you and Neleh both believe in God. Did God like you more?
I always believed God will never give you too much you can handle and afford. Maybe He said she's 21 and this other lady is married, settled, and looking to start a family. That's how I see it, anyway.
