A
''I am ashamed for humanity,'' says one of the few remaining survivors of the thousands of homosexual men who were imprisoned, tortured, and, if Jewish, killed in Hitler's concentration camps. In recounting their stories, documentarians Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (The Celluloid Closet) have interwoven grimly evocative images of Nazi rallies, death-camp interiors, and bombed-out Berlin ruins. But the film's real power comes from the horrifying memories of five old men who, even now, cannot fully articulate their rage, sorrow, and pain.
