The chronological resurrection of Bowie's catalog reaches 1973, with the enigmatic album and persona that succeeded Ziggy Stardust. An ambitious but uneven guitar-rock record about sex and fame, this stylistically diverse program mixes Bowie classics (''Watch That Man,'' ''Drive In Saturday,'' ''Panic in Detroit,'' ''The Jean Genie'') with less-enduring efforts (''Cracked Actor,'' the melodramatic ''Time,'' ''Lady Grinning Soul,'' and a loopy take on the Stones' ''Let's Spend the Night Together''). Significant but not quite essential.
