Maybe when the memory of Aaliyah's death is not so fresh, the incoherent gaudiness of this underperforming follow-up to Interview With the Vampire will have transmuted into a kind of enjoyable camp. Until then, we're stuck with this damned production, in which the late pop star plays an ancient but eternally youthful-looking vampire queen aroused by the presence of the Vampire Lestat (Stuart Townsend, who's no Tom Cruise), striding the earth as a rock star.
