It's a shame that Lisa Schwarzbaum criticizes Halle Berry's wonderfully unglamorous performance in Monster's Ball because of Berry's natural beauty. Berry's physical blessings are overpowered by the depth that she brings to her role. Just because a character is poor and tragic doesn't mean the character has to be physically unappealing.

Digging for 'Roots'

Marc Bernardin's review of the Roots DVD did not mention producer Stan Margulies. As Stan's agent of the last few years and friend for many, I know well the part he played in bringing this groundbreaking miniseries to television. He considered it one of his proudest and most lasting achievements.
