Hey, grown-ups — want something to watch while you experience the mind-bending effects of psychotropic drugs? Let this three-disc collection take you back to the '70s, when two brothers filled Saturday morning with talking hats, sentient cars, and Sleestacks. It's unlikely today's kids will enjoy a sampling of shows like Lidsville, Wonderbug, and Land of the Lost — with their laughably lame special effects, pabulum plots, and garish sets that would barely pass muster for a third-grade production of Johnny Appleseed. Hell, who knows why we watched Far Out Space Nuts, but we did, and the inexplicable Krofft appeal still endures. Where else but on H.R. Pufnstuf can you hear a Southern-accented dragon-thing say, ''Don't anyone touch the evil mushrooms''? And does any series besides The Bugaloos feature Martha Raye and a giant Nazi rodent named Funky Rat? While some selections are awfully obscure (Magic Mongo?), the Ruth Buzzi-led installment of The Lost Saucer is sublime, thanks to the Chickephant. That's right, it's half chicken, half elephant.
