Lead Performance: Darren Hayes
--
Now that Aussie synth-poppers Savage Garden have disbanded, the duo's lead singer appears to be auditioning for an opening in 'N Sync, judging from the breathy ad-libs at the start of his blandly atmospheric debut solo single. But then the falsetto chorus kicks in, and he seems instead to be channeling a balladeering Michael Jackson. Both incarnations make one wish ex-partner Daniel Jones would rescue Hayes with a sizable helping of edge.
