JEEPERS CREEPERS (2002)

When two college siblings witness a cloaked man dumping dead bodies down a drainpipe, curiosity draws them to investigate. With such a predictable plot, it's easy to discount Creepers as just another slasher flick. And indeed, it has a lot of the stock elements: cars that won't start, authorities that won't believe them, and annoyingly dumb protagonists. But, surprisingly, the movie -- executive-produced by Francis Ford Coppola, of all people -- builds a sense of menace with a pace as relentless as its killer.
