Following Goodie Mob's conflicted swan song, World Party, the Atlanta hip-hop crew's MVP explodes like a man released from creative prison. In the great Southern tradition of Reverends Al Green and Little Richard, Cee sings and raps praise to God and sex, hammering Afrocentric beats, wasp-swarm guitars, and overdriven church organs into an LP that wants to save hip-hop's soul. A lost cause? Perhaps. But this remains one helluva sermon.
