GOO GOO GAGA

Gutterflower was no gutter ball. The Goo Goo Dolls' first new album in four years sold 101,000 copies to open at No. 4. Despite the band's string of late-'90s hit singles, this is the first of their albums to make the top 10. Two rockers who haven't played with dolls in a while, Neil Young and Bonnie Raitt, debuted respectably at Nos. 10 and 13, with his 56,000 trumping her 54,000. Although Ashanti's sales dropped by more than half, to 246,000, that was still good enough for No. 1. But--great leapin' Luciano!--the big news was Josh Groban's jump from No. 121 to No. 12, his sales rising to almost 56,000 thanks to a prime-time plug on ABC's 20/20.
