Singer-songwriter McNally has a voice adorned with equal amounts of grit and grace, and Sparrows contains some choice moments of rousing last-call melancholy, such as the bracing ''Now That I Know.'' Though the production is too well-scrubbed, at times, Sparrows is a strikingly spirited debut.
