Boy-girl group Scene 23 tosses some testosterone into the prefab Popstars formula, which previously created Eden's Crush. Yet whatever charisma this quintet may have shown on TV fails to translate to the CD, a blithe but blah collection of puppy-love romanticism and trite tries at empowerment set against bubbly beats, tinkling keyboards, and nonthreatening guitars. The vocal contributions of Mariah Carey and R. Kelly only underscore how flimsy these chirping newbies are. The kids are all lite.
