Bet you didn't know that when we finally colonize the red planet, we'll set up a matriarchal military society that will force its femcops to keep the peace while wearing skintight leggings. That's just one of the not-so-prescient touches Carpenter brings to bear in his mostly lame sci-fi potboiler. What keeps it from being totally lame is Cube, who swaggers through his role as superbad criminal James ''Desolation'' Williams, the only thing standing between Henstridge's officer/siren and what looks like a horde of demonically possessed Marilyn Manson fans.
