Among those stuck in New York City was Sarah Jessica Parker, whose HBO hit Sex and the City was named best comedy. "We called her the second we got off [stage]," says Sex costar Kristin Davis. "I think she was watching the game. She's a die-hard Yankees fan." Making her about the only supporter of the Bronx Bombers to be on a winning team that night.

STOLEN MOMENT Oscar emcee Steve Martin almost stole the show--and Judy Davis' award--when he stormed the stage to grab one of the evening's many unclaimed trophies. "It was not planned," swears Emmy host (and fellow Anne Heche ex) Ellen DeGeneres.
BEST-KEPT SECRET Barbra fooled everyone with her finale. "We were told she couldn't be here, that she was in New York," says a stunned Eric McCormack, who was to present Streisand her award for Individual Performance in a Music or Variety Program. "And it was all a lie!" Babs was still en route to the Shubert Theatre when her award was announced.
PSYCHIC FRIENDS? The West Wing's Bradley Whitford, John Spencer, and Richard Schiff were up for best supporting actor. Whitford won this year, Schiff took it in 2000. "When I heard my name," says Whitford, "I turned around to John and said, 'You're next.'"
CLOTHES CALL Since organizers requested more casual attire, celebs like Debra Messing, Allison Janney, and Kristin Davis are saving their original Emmy gowns. "I'm hoping I'll have a reason to wear it in the future," says Messing. But Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham (pictured) found a good excuse to don her nearly sheer dress: "I thought I'd help out the security people."
