On this too-short EP, Brooklyn's dexterous Elk City seem determined to refashion many of the too-familiar indie-rock archetypes of the '80s and '90s. And in a mere five songs, they come close to accomplishing their goal: Fierce adeptly shifts from the dreamy, hymnlike ''Turpentine'' and ''Take Me Out'' to a bustling bit of Pixies thrash such as ''Three Ears'' -- all in under half an hour.
