The standout in Marvel Comics' new explicit-content-allowed line, Alias features Jessica Jones, a disenchanted superheroine who decides to become an ordinary private eye. But while following a missing persons case, she discovers that the sought-after girl has been spending time with and out-of-uniform Captain America. Writer Brian Michael Bendis (helped by stark, realistic art from Michael Gaydos) blends hard-boiled melodrama with unusual ethical dilemmas: Should Jessica reveal Captain America's secret identity? Does making a superhero's sex life public become a hindrance to his noble chores? Mystery, patriotism, and paranoia combine with carefully modulated suspense.
