The Possum's duet with Garth Brooks on ''Beer Run'' lands him on country radio, but it's a throwaway novelty number compared to the rest of this affecting collection about deferred dreams, lost opportunities, and essential connections. At 70, Jones' pinched, wail-and-plunge baritone remains a thing of wonder, and never more so than on ''50,000 Names,'' a cathartic reminder of the Vietnam War and the scars that never really went away.
