Give Yoakam credit for aspiring to be a film director, but don't buy his soundtrack for hits. Interspersed with movie dialogue, the music ranges from atmospheric pastiche to rhythm numbers that meander off the trail. Considering Yoakam's writing partners -- Mick Jagger, Billy Gibbons -- there's only one way to feel about this horse opera: We was robbed.
