Although it predates Bitches Brew, 1969's In a Silent Way is acknowledged as Davis' first real foray into jazz-rock fusion. This triple-CD set brings together the recordings Davis made during a decisive six-month period that found him dissolving his acoustic quintet and experimenting with electric instruments and rock-funk rhythms. Four previously unreleased performances, and unabridged Silent tunes, provide an enthralling picture of a turn in the road that defined Davis' art for the remainder of his life.
