Picture this: contact celebrities like Moby and Sarah Jessica Parker, hand them a camera (a Canon PowerShot S110 Digital Elph provided by the company), and send them on assignment for a good cause (Project A.L.S.). This past summer, 13 stars chronicled their daily lives for this special feature. And though we knew these celebs had plenty of experience in front of the camera, we never thought they'd be as comfortable behind it. Of course, taking pictures for a cause as worthy as Project A.L.S. should be a snap. Founded by producer Jenifer Estess, who was diagnosed with A.L.S. (often referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease) in 1997, Project A.L.S.' mission is to find treatments and a cure for this fatal disorder. ''When we began this last summer, our hope was that the pictures would be both fun and meaningful,'' says Project A.L.S. cofounder Julianne Hoffenberg. ''Now, at a time when things are so uncertain, it's all the more gratifying that people came together to help our cause.'' Because these stars gave so generously of themselves, EW is following suit. We plan to offer prints of select photos on these pages; all proceeds go directly to Project A.L.S. Log on to www.ew.com/projectals for more info.
