Adapting a Norwegian movie (''Insomnia'') has boosted Al Pacino's career; now his ''Glengarry Glen Ross'' costar Kevin Spacey wants to do the same. He'll produce (but not act in) a U.S. remake of ''Elling,'' one of this year's foreign-language Oscar nominees. The ''Odd Couple''-like comedy about two mental outpatients adjusting to life outside the hospital has been a huge success in Norway, as a novel and a play as well as on film. It opened this week on New York screens and will slowly make its way across the U.S.
SOUND BITE You won't see the MTV Movie Awards until June 6, but they're taping on Saturday, June 1, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
