--
Based on screenwriters David Dean Bottrell and Jessie Jones' play about a family that reunites over the passing of their gruff daddy, this claustrophobic series of spats and monologues -- LL Cool J broods, Fox pops nerve pills -- may as well be stamped Intended-Only-For-The-Stage. Still, it's pretty funny when Mama (Goldberg) wants ''mean and surly'' inscribed on her husband's tombstone and pretty damn unintentionally funny when Jada Pinkett Smith lip-synchs. The story lacks a center (Daddy Bud dies as the movie begins), but it's got a little soul.
