With his tale of two women attempting to conceal a murder they've committed, director Bill Eagles aspires to reach the violent, testosterone-driven heights of Pulp Fiction and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels but falls somewhat short of his goal. One of the keys to success for this kind of noir fable is that the protagonists, no matter how misanthropic, must also be damned clever. They have to walk smart, talk smart, and act smart. Nothing like that occurs here. Alas, the film may be beautiful, but it's not too bright.
