THE PRACTICE
ABC, 10-11 PM
The body of murdered ADA Richard Bay (Jason Kravitz) is barely
cold, but he's already being replaced by a new character, Alan
Low (Band of Brothers' Ron Livingston). No word yet whether
office-mate Helen Gamble (Lara Flynn Boyle) will try to get into
his legal briefs. ''There must be something to that rumor,'' says
Livingston. ''But if they do that, it'll be something they build
slowly.'' In the two-hour season opener, Bobby Donnell (Dylan
McDermott) defends a senator (Murder One's Dylan Baker)
who's accused of murder; Frasier's Virginia Madsen plays his
wife. Now that Kelli Williams and Camryn Manheim have
given birth in real life and on TV, no more pregnancies are
planned. Ditto any crossovers -- at least until David E. Kelley
creates another show. (Sept. 23, 9-11 p.m.)
