Once more I find myself wondering if Owen Gleiberman and I saw the same movie! How can he say this is an unimaginative return? This movie was updated with much imagination by Tim Burton. Owen needs to take a vacation, a few deep breaths, and a map to where he left his own imagination! LOUSHON CURTSINGER lcc1211@hotmail.com Columbus, Ohio
Two Writers' Beginnings
Eudora Welty and Jackie Collins are two writers at opposite ends of the spectrum. So a coincidence I discovered was striking. In the Welty article: "She began...Losing Battles on a notebook held next to the steering wheel during trips to the hospital to visit her mother." In the Collins article: "She wrote her first novel... when she was a young mother living in London.... 'The children went to school 25 minutes away, so I'd be driving across town in the snow and the dark, writing at stoplights,' Collins says...." It's fascinating that they shared a devotion to their craft, and their families. CHRISTOPHER J. RINDOS chris@indexpublications.com Bennington, Vt.

"If you're going to open a show with a woman bashing her husband over the head with a frying pan because he's 'boring,' you'd better serve up some sizzling action."
